Director of Major Accounts
Turner Surety & Insurance Brokerage, Inc. (TSIB)
Compensation Range: $166,000 – $247,000
TSIB is seeking a Property & Casualty insurance professional, with over 10+ years of experience, as the Director of Major Accounts to lead strategy, service, and growth for a select high-value commercial insurance clients. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving client satisfaction, managing complex insurance programs, and building strong carrier relationships — all while leading and mentoring a high-performing team.
As a trusted advisor, you will oversee all aspects of client relationships, including program design, coverage placement, strategic account planning, and service delivery, ensuring that client programs remain competitive, comprehensive, and forward-looking.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Account Management
- Provide superior strategic account management, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
- Review and recommend coverage enhancements for existing programs.
- Prepare detailed coverage comparisons and coverage analysis.
- Identify and develop new opportunities with both existing and new insurers to enhance coverage and expand product offerings.
- Build a deep understanding of client needs and work across internal functions to bring together resources that deliver enhanced value.
Market & Carrier Relations
- Identify appropriate markets for all lines of coverage, including but not limited to: Property & Casualty, Builder’s Risk, Workers’ Compensation, Auto, SDI, E&O, D&O, Pollution, and Umbrella/Excess coverages.
- Negotiate terms with carriers/markets for placement of client business.
- Manage annual renewals for all lines of coverage.
- Develop and champion strong relationships with key carrier partners.
- Negotiate new business capacity with both new and existing carrier partners.
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise account support team members (ex. CSR, Broker, Account Executive), ensuring quality service delivery.
- Provide leadership by sharing a vision, setting direction, building strong teams, implementing change, and motivating others to succeed.
- Collaborate with the Claims Director to support clients in settlement of losses when needed.
Compliance & Risk Governance
- Ensure all commercial lines activities and operations comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Research risk management trends and advise clients on insurance and non-insurance solutions.
- Demonstrate expertise in handling complex insurance issues with professionalism and strategic insight.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; and a minimum of 10 years of experience in insurance, brokerage, or risk management.
- Broker’s license required; CPCU, ARM, or similar professional designation strongly preferred.
- Commercial lines experience and expertise within the insurance industry.
- Previous management and leadership experience required.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to align complex client needs with market availability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry RMIS programs.
- Exceptional organizational skills with ability to manage high-volume, deadline-driven workloads.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret insurance and contract documents and make appropriate recommendations.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels (internal and external).
- Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality.
- Ability to travel as needed.
